Activex
is for the colonisation of filtration bacteria and differs from similar
filter products as it contains a gel, which creates a retention substrate
in the filter for the bacteria to multiply on more quickly and effectively.
The gel substrate is harmless and feeds the bacteria. Introduce 10 ml
of Activex per cubic foot of biological filter. There is no need to
measure the filter system precisely and you need only feed the product
into the biological part of the filter not the mechanical area. In a
mature pond use Activex occasionally to boost the filter performance
particularly after any chemicals have been used which may affect the
biology in the filter, or after heavy feeding during Summer. In a new
pond allow a few days between each application of Activex as the filter
establishes and test water frequently throughout the colonisation process
first for ammonia and then for nitrite. The frequency for applications
does not matter, every three days if you have a major problem establishing
the filter with high readings, or if you are coping follow the directions
on the bottle which are only a guide, with a natural product there are
many ways to use it successfully.
Combat
Bactericide combines several antimicrobial
agents and a fungicide. For minor bacterial problems, raised scales
and to lower protozoan parasites that commonly cause a white film treat
the pond 1-2 times depending on the severity at seven-day intervals.
For gill fluke treat the pond 3 times at four-day intervals. Combat
minimally affects filter bacteria.
Envirex
was exhaustively researched during its 10-year development; many government
agencies took part in the research and use the product today to control
many potential problems in ponds lakes and natural waters. Envirex is
a totally natural product that degrades both solids and dissolved solids
at the same time lowering ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate and
other unwanted substances in pond water. The result is a more hygienic
pond in which disease is less likely to develop. Being a totally natural
product Envirex cannot kill blanketweed or algae but can inhibit their
growth due to its influence on the cause of algal growths and blooms.
The benefits of Envirex are found with regular use and it can prove
very economical as users are advised to customise the dose level to
their own needs. The amount required is directly related to the volume
of fish stocked not the gallonage of the pond, that is why there is
no accurate dose level it will vary pond to pond. Envirex is available
in 400 grams or 2 kg tubs. To start off the system use 80 grams per
1000 gallons in a new pond and 40 grams per 1000 gallons in a mature
pond and allow a week for settlement. In the average pond with a low
stocking density approximately 5 grams per 1000 gallons every 5-7 days
usually controls unwanted substances and solids. When serious water
quality problems are experienced with high ammonia or nitrite readings
increased doses of Envirex can be used possibly 15 grams per 1000 gallons
would be an average dose in this situation. These are guidelines only
and can be adapted to individual needs as Envirex is harmless and totally
natural. When Envirex is used all year round the start up dose will
only be needed once at the outset. If using Envirex regularly during
the Summer but stopping use during Winter the mature pond dose needs
to be introduced every Spring. There is no need to switch off ultra
violet sterilisers when using Envirex, and the product does not interfere
with any pond medication or filtration additive.
Pond
Detox Formula When pollutants are at high levels they are
liable to cause your fish to die. At low levels pollutants make fish
more susceptible to disease. Pond Detox Formula neutralises pollution,
improves water clarity, settles particles, enriches skin colour, improves
skin lustre, aids digestion and generally improves health.
Reminex
and Reminex Plus - The mineral content of water is vital
to the fish that live in it. Rainfall, water purifiers, ultra violet
sterilisers and even the passage of time will all lower the natural
mineral level. Fish cannot obtain every mineral they need from their
diet they have to take these in from the water they live in. Reminex
replaces these essential minerals, improves the coloration, as well
as adding to the skin quality and putting sparkle into the pond water.
Based on montmorillionite clay Reminex and Reminex plus contain a tonic
that the fish enjoy and find stimulating. Reminex can be can be used
directly in the pond, or in a concentrated bath, or mixed with feed.
The Reminex tub provides some guidelines for use and indicates a maximum
dose level of 300 grams per 1000 gallons. This will cause clouding just
like the clay ponds in Japan and is recommended off-season in Spring
and Autumn when Koi-keepers are not spending time at the pond. This
high dose will improve the condition of fish that have just wintered
or about to do so and improves the intensity of the colour of Koi. To
simply boost the mineral level of the pond the hobbyist can determine
a dose level - 50 grams per 1000 will add some minerals 10-20 grams
per 1000 will help to put a sparkle into the water. 4 grams in 25 gallons
should be sufficient for a bath and Koi can be left in this for as long
as oxygen levels and water quality permit. To feed Reminex soak 250
grams of pellets in 7 grams of Reminex which has been dissolved in a
little water or orange juice. Feed immediately as drying the feed could
lower the mineral content. Like all natural products the user can customise
Reminex. There is no conflict between Reminex and pond medications and
no need to switch off the UV during use.
Use
reminex in ponds of poor water quality as it has a higher ionic exchange
capacity reminex plus is suited to all normal ponds
Paradex -
Is used to control the larger parasites such as lice, leeches and
anchor worm seen by the naked eye. To avoid subjecting chemicals it
is advised that the pond is retreated each time juvenile lice or leeches
are seen rather than at a particular frequency. Only the adult remale
anchor worm is visible, and this has to be removed with tweezers and
the body treated with Koi Cream (found in the First
Aid Kit) before the pond is treated.
Bio-Dips
- Is used to assess the bacterial level in pond water. TWO
units are supplied so when a high level of bacteria is suspected a
bio-dip can be taken before and after the use of a bactericide to
ascertain how effective the treatment has been.

First Aid Kit
- Contains all the following products listed with full directions
on use
Roccal Wound Spray -
Is used as a cleaner for all wounds, injuries or ulcers. This is used
at the first treatment and should not need repeating unless the wound
is weeping heavily or there are loose scales or matter that needs
removing.
Aquatec Bactericidal Spray -
Is applied to any skin lesion following the cleaning procedure or
to a less serious wound that does not require cleaning. This product
can be applied as often as the fish will tolerate netting and it can
be sprayed while the fish is restrained in the net. Koi
Cream can be applied over Aquatec.
G.7 Spray Wound Sealer
- Forms a final waterproof barrieron wounds, ulcers or injuries. The
wound must be cleaned if this is the first treatment but this may
not be required at subsequent treatments. Then only Aquatec
or Cauteriser is applied and the wound gently blotted
dry before G7 is lightly sprayed. G7 needs to dry before the fish
is returned to water so sedation will make the application more successful.
The cream is best used separately to G7, as it will affect the seal.
Koi Cream
- Is not intended to form a seal or barrier like G7, but to denature
proteins that inhibit healing, it is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory.
It can be applied to skin lesions of all types, alone or over Aquatec.
When a wound starts to heal discontinue all other products
using only Koi Cream. Instead of sedating a fish for a more intensive
treatment it can be applied to wounds or ulcers alone or over Aquatec
and this can be carried out with the fish in the net. Koi Cream can
be applied as often as the fish will tolerate the stress of netting.
Cauteriser
- Is only ever applied to open weeping ulcers or injuries NEVER
healthy tissue.
Clear Eye
- Treats bacterial eye infections particularly cloudy eye, which can
turn cornea opaque. It is applied with a pad of cotton wool soaked
in Clear Eye and can be repeated daily if the fish tolerates its but
at least twice per week if not. Use a clean pad for each eye and treat
both eyes even if only only one appears to be affected.
